The initial inspiration behind Project Cupid was Co-Founder Amy Blue’s cousin, Isaias Valentin. On September 5, 2009, Isaias lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, 4 days shy of his 10th birthday. Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a very rare subtype of leukemia that has a 83 percent death rate.

In October 2010, Project Cupid was founded with goals of creating an event to raise awareness and money for Pediatric Leukemia. Most importantly, it was created to honor the life, the strength and the memory of Isaias.

Since 2009, Project Cupid’s Annual Charity Date Auction has raised over $50,000 for Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier’s Research Fund and Pediatric Leukemia Care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Jimmy Fund.

“I have cancer. Cancer doesn’t have me.” – Isaias Valentin
